Study with Government Funding Assistance

Smart and Skilled NSW is a government initiative that provides eligible students with access to subsidised training, making it more affordable to gain industry-recognised qualifications.

Gateway Training Academy is an approved provider, offering accredited courses that support career growth and workforce development in New South Wales.

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

For courses where both the student fee and the subsidy are covered by the NSW Government, the training is fee-free and fully subsidised by the NSW Government.

Eligibility for Government Funded Training

While eligibility depends on many factors, Smart and Skilled course participants include people who are:

  • 15 years old or over, and
  • no longer at school or home-schooled students, and
  • living or working in NSW (or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • person living in specific NSW border areas), and
  • an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian
  • visa holder or New Zealand citizen

For Employers - Entitlement Apprenticeships & Traineeships Program

Gateway Training Academy can provide employers access to subsidised and fee-free new entrant traineeships. This will give your employees a unique opportunity to complete a nationally recognised qualification whilst concurrently building their skills in their role.

Eligibility criteria to be a New Entrant Traineeship

To be eligible for a new entrant traineeship your employees need to be employed:

  • for less than 3 months as a full-time employee prior to the commencement of the traineeship, or
  • for less than 12 months as a part-time or casual employee prior to the commencement of the traineeship, or
  • for less than 12 months in a combination of part-time, casual and full-time employment prior to the commencement of the traineeship
